Nigel Ruddock (Partner)
Nigel Ruddock is a member of the Global Leadership
Team of Grant Thornton International, one of the world's leading
advisory & assurance practices.
In this role Nigel is responsible for the strategic development
of advisory services, including the delivery of services
internationally. Grant Thornton's advisory practice is a one
billion dollar business, comprising a range of transactional
services, such as corporate finance & restructuring, as well as
services to government and business risk services.
Prior to assuming his new role on 1 January 2010, Nigel was
responsible for developing the Global Automotive team within the
Grant Thornton network.
Experience
Nigel joined Grant Thornton LLP, the UK member firm of Grant
Thornton International, in 1998. He is a Licensed Insolvency
Practitioner and has over 30 years' experience in Recovery and
Reorganisation.
Nigel has specialised exclusively on the automotive sector for
the past 10 years, and was responsible for the creation of the UK
firm’s dedicated automotive restructuring unit. This was a
multi-disciplinary team focused on the distribution network and
supply chain for the sector. During this time the team handled
virtually all of the restructuring of major car dealerships in the
UK, and developed strong relationships with manufacturers and
sector funders.
This work naturally became more international, and the was asked
by clients to undertake work across continental Europe. In 2006 he
also led the team responsible for increasing capability and
expertise in supply chain restructuring in the US, which increased
capability significantly ahead of the recent turmoil in the
sector.
Qualifications and Professional memberships:
Nigel served as a member of the partnership committee of the UK
firm from July 2002 to June 2009, being appointed chairman of the
committee in June 2007. The partnership committee is elected by the
partners as an oversight body for the executive management. During
the period of his chairmanship he led a major governance review of
the firm. He also oversaw the process to appoint a new chief
executive officer.
Nigel is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified
Accountants and sat as a member of its authorisation committee,
primarily focusing on disciplinary offences relating to Licensed
Insolvency Practitioners. He is also a Fellow of the Association of
Business Recovery Professionals and became a Licensed Insolvency
Practitioner in 1977.
