Andrew Conquest (Partner)
Andrew has specialised in treating ailing
businesses since 1974. He was responsible for leading the
firm's Recovery & Reorganisation practice in East Anglia for
over 20 years before moving to London in 2000 to head up the London
asset recovery and tracing team whilst playing a supporting role in
Cambridge. His current role involves UK and international
assignments in varying jurisdictions including the US, Ireland,
Argentina, Romania and Scandinavia. Andrew leads our Exit
Strategy product in London. He is also head of Recovery's
haulage and distribution specialism and is responsible for liaison
with our general practice team in the South East and Grant Thornton
Dublin.
Experience
Andrew has dealt with business reviews and all forms of
executory appointments.
Key assignments include:
- administrative receiver of Specialised Mouldings Limited - a
landmark case for insolvency practitioners in the area of
employment liabilities
- administrative receiver of a multi franchise motor retail and
leasing group engulfed in fraud
- administrative receivership of a quoted manufacturing
group which resulted in a full return for the debenture holder
following extensive work resolving a claim against the
auditors
- advising the US owner of Wax Lyrical, a specialist candle
retailer on its exit options. This led to an Administrative
Receivership and a return for the owner well in excess of
expectations resulting from the recovery strategy adopted
- advising the shareholders of a £50m turnover leading root crop
grower and supermarket supplier on restructuring
- advising the US banking syndicate owed $80million on maximising
their recovery from a worldwide group of rapid dispatch
businesses. This involved both an assessment of potential
fraud and the pre pack receivership of its UK subsidiary.
- advising the principal lender in relation to a £100million
turnover distribution business
- administrative receivership of substantial property development
business (bank debt £20million) with UK wide developments
- exit strategy advice for a quoted telecoms business with
shareholder value being enhanced through a members voluntary
liquidation
- administrative receivership of a £40million turnover
construction business
- administration and CVA of a 8m turnover laminated foil printing
business
- administrative receiver of a pier and amusement caterer
- asset recovery assignments in Argentina and Romania
- acting as liquidator to a business based in Bahrain.
