David Maxwell (Partner, National Leadership)

David Maxwell joined Grant Thornton in 2007, following the merger with RSM Robson Rhodes.

Experience

David Maxwell is a member of the National Management Board. During David's 30 years in the profession he has been based in London, New York and Brussels and worked in many other countries. His activities have covered delivering professional services and holding management positions. He has a long history of auditing international mid cap groups and also providing related services including listing work and transaction support. David has worked with and led many international teams at the strategic and operational levels. As the recently elected Chairman of the Forum of Firms, David has an active role in the development of the profession on a worldwide basis working with IFAC and the major international accounting networks, standard setters and regulators. David’s professional work has included:

  • Advising on the privatisation of the Polish state owned electronics industry.
  • IFRS reporting conversion for one of Russia's top 10 countries.
  • The public to private transaction of a £450m listed group.
  • The demerger and fresh listing of a £50m operation from a listed group.
  • AIM admissions including US technology companies.

David's has held several management roles in a 1000 person professional firm including:

  • Managing Partner
  • Head of London audit;
  • Head of national marketing;
  • European Regional Director
  • Chairman of European Transaction Support;
  • Head of the Technology and Telecoms sector group.

As a member of the National Management Board, David has responsibility for marketing and communications, international development, and takes a direct involvement in the HR Board, Government and Infrastructure Board and the Financial Services team.
