Grant Thornton announces new promotion within firm’s
Recovery and Reorganisation practice
7 February 2007
Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton is pleased to
announce the promotion of Darren Mason to Director within the
firm’s Recovery and Reorganisation practice.
Since joining the firm 10 years ago, Darren
has focused on corporate and credit advisory work, with particular
involvement in financial restructuring and turnaround consulting.
He also played a significant role in developing the firm's pension
scheme advisory role including working with the Pensions Regulator
in relation to the new statutory framework for funding defined
benefit pension schemes.
As a Director within Grant Thornton's
Recovery & Reorganisation practice, Darren will play a pivotal
role in expanding the team's pensions advisory offering. Grant
Thornton Recovery & Reorganisation regularly helps companies
and trustees assess the financial strength of a sponsoring
employer, negotiate contributions to schemes and advise on the
implementation of policy in the event of a restructuring or
insolvency situation.
The firm acts for over 700 schemes, ranging
from those with assets well in excess of £1bn to small self
administered schemes - including defined benefit, defined
contribution, hybrid, self administered and insured
arrangements.
Commenting on his promotion, Darren said, “I
am looking forward to this exciting, new challenge and the
opportunity to continue to provide our clients with exceptional
service and innovative solutions in complex situations within a
constantly evolving regulatory regime"
Andrew Conquest, head of pensions advisory
within Grant Thornton's Recovery & Reorganisation practice
said, “Darren's promotion is testimony to the firm’s commitment to
develop and nurture talent from within and demonstrates the
significant achievements Darren has made.”7
